INTRODUCTION OF UNIVERSITI TECHNOLOGI PETRONAS (UTP)

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), which was established in year 1997, has grown to be one of the most prominent private universities in Malaysia. Offering a wide range of industry-relevant engineering and technology programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

UTP has produced more than 10, 000 graduates and currently has an enrolment over 6, 000 undergraduates and 1200 postgraduates from more than 50 countries around the world. UTP complements its engineering and technology programs with quality education in the areas of management and the humanities, with the aim of producing well-rounded graduates exhibiting excellent leadership qualities and communication abilities.

Rated as Tier 5 (Excellent) University for the year 2011 rating System for the Education Institutions (SETARA ’11) and achieved the Tier 5 for 2011 D-SETARA (Discipline- Based rating system) in engineering, UTP continues to provide distinctive educational opportunities to its students.UTP also places strong emphasis on Research and development as it strives to achieve the status of an internationally renowned research University. The university conducts extensive research activities in collaboration with PETRONAS and other institutions and industries locally and abroad focusing on Enhanced Oil Recovery, Carbon Dioxide management, Deepwater Technology, Nanotechnology, Green technology, Biomedical Technology, Hybrid Energy systems, Intelligent City and Sustainable Resources. This is evident when UTP was awarded a 5-star rating by Malaysian Research Assessment Instrument (MyRA) for its research, development and commercialization efforts recently.

The university was also rated 3-star for Excellence in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University rating for 2013.

INTRODUCTION OF TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION AND CAREER FAIR (TEC)

Technology, Education and Career (TEC) is an annual event which is jointly organized for the 15th time by the Student Support Services Department in Collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).  Since 2001, TEC had become a bridge for the students all over Malaysia to be exposed to not only local companies but also multinational companies as well.  Apart from providing with prospective employee, the companies are also privileged to engage with UTP students with there are privileged to engage with UTP students with their own career talk and CSR programs.  In 2014, TEC had successfully attracted a crowd of around 5000 people and a total of 70 companies had participated which made TEC 14 as the biggest Sector Focused Career Fair (SFCF) in Malaysia and the biggest career fair fully-organized by students.

OBJECTIVES
- To equip graduates with skills needed for local and international job market
- As medium of interaction between the graduates and employers from various sector.
- To provide a platform for students to gain experience of being interviewed and thus exposed them to proper procedures in job application.
- Encouraging students towards achieving academic excellence through various educational programs.

WHY JOIN US?
- Over 70 companies had participated in the previous TEC with crowds up to 5000 people including students from other colleges and universities all over Malaysia.
- In 2014, TEC became the biggest Sector Focused Career Fair (SFCF) in Malaysia and the biggest career fair in Malaysia which is fully organized by students.
- This year 2015, TEC will be celebrating our 15th Anniversary in organizing the career fair.
- Our graduates undergo an exceptionally lengthy 7 months of industrial internship.
- UTP became the first IPTS in Malaysia to receive an overall 4-Star rating by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
- Currently 77% of UTP Students are non-bonded, thus making it an easier process for recruitment drives.
